My Give A Damn's Busted

It is 8:45am on Saturday... I should be sleeping in... but no, I am sitting her writing a blog entry. I swear to God and all that is holy it is so typical that when I have a chance to sleep in, I am up at the crack of dawn. I tried to go back to bed but alas, I could not fall asleep. I am pretty excited for today though. I am going to go to the Dixon May Fair this evening.

In concert tonight is the fantastic Jo Dee Messina. Jo Dee Messina was one of the most successful female country singer/songwriter of the late 1990s and new millennium. To date, she has charted nine Number One singles on the Billboard country music charts, has been honored by The Country Music Association, The Academy of Country Music and The Grammy Awards and was the first female country artist to score three multiple-week #1 songs from the same album.

I am seriously so excited to see her. This will be my first time seeing her in concert. A few years ago, 2003 i believe, I had tickets to see Jo Dee in Sacramento, but due to "unforeseen circumstances" she had to cancel the performance and was unable to make up the concert date. Looking back on the situation I think the "unforeseen circumstances" was actually due to her battle with the bottle. In April of 2004, Messina entered a rehabilitation facility in Utah for treatment for alcoholism. She is now clean and sober and looking damn good as of late. I think she may have 0.5% body fat percentage, I am seriously jealous.

Here is a recent video of Jo Dee's. The song is called "My Give A Damn's Busted."

Tomorrow is Mother's Day and I will be spending it with my entire family. In the morning we will be participating in theY-Me Mother's Day Walk for Breast Cancer. It is like the Susan G. Komen Walk to Find a Cure, but this held on Mother's Day. We are walking in honor of my Aunt who has just finished her last radiation treatment. She goes back to the oncologist in the next few weeks to find out if the treatment was successful.

I hope all of you have a fantastic weekend and a super Mother’s Day. Don’t forget to call your Mom on Mother’s Day. If I forgot, I know for certain my Mom would be down at her lawyer’s office on Monday, taking me out of her last will and testament. Sounds like I am joking, but in reality it is not too far from the truth.

What did you get your Momma for MD? I got mine an “Awww” Card and a 2GB iPod Shuffle. I know that will come back to bite me in the ass because I am going to have to sit down with her for hours on end explaining how to use the device. I swear if a five year-old could figure it out, how difficult could it really be? For my Mom it will be like performing extensive brain surgery. Lucky me…

LOL! My mom's technological journey has been a long and rocky road. She does love her email, but even though I bought her a digital camera a couple years ago, I noticed she was using a disposible throwaway when I visited her last winter in Florida.

Do you really want to know what I got her for Mother's day? Every year, my siblings and I get her the baseball package on cable. I'm not even kidding. She LOVES it. Hysterical, right?

Have fun at the JDM gig tonight!

have fun at the concert! I got my mother - - clay! When I was younger, she used to be a pretty good sculptor, and she's been jonesing for some clay. that said, i don't think she ever used the last batch I got her . . .

we're bbq-ing steaks at mom's tomorrow . . .

I'd email her when to expect us, but she's not yet mastered email . . .

Sounds like you had a fun and busy weekend.

My mom hates technology too. She won't even use an ATM machine and still writes checks for everything! For Mother's Day I got her flowers and her favorite candy. I also promised to quit cussing so much, but that's gonna be a fucking hard one to keep.

My mom is actually really technical. She even reads my blog! I'm dying to buy her a Mac and get her off the PC. Hope you enjoyed your walk.

Ryan, it always kills me when I realize what a Southern boy you are!! I am so glad to hear that you are a good Mama's boy too! I wish I knew you were doing the walk, I would have sponsored you.

I sent my mom a card, but let me tell you, those shuffles are not as easy as they sound. I've accidentally erased mine 3 times.

Hope you had a good weekend!

Did you ever get your "give a damn" fixed? I only ask because mine is completely broken and I'm afraid I might have to completely scrap it.
